If your child is experiencing a sensory processing disorder or challenge, they can become overstimulated suddenly, and without warning.
The nervous system’s inability to facilitate sensory integration is at the root of sensory processing disorder. When the body’s input to the brain is incorrect, it results in an incorrect output (behavior). For example, the body may signal to the brain that there is danger (fight or flight) even when no threat is present.
Sensitivities or overstimulation to the following:
- Clothing
- Light
- Sound
- Touch
- Food textures
- Movement
- Crowds
We often focus on behaviors like how a child responds to certain situations. However, a neurologically focused chiropractor focuses on the sensory information being relayed to the brain. If the brain is getting poor information, it in turn signals poor outcomes. Poor input equals poor output. By leveraging our scanning technology, we have an objective view of the brain and nervous system communication. Is it calm, symmetrical and regulated information? Or is it noisy, asymmetrical and dysregulated? Every child is unique, and because we integrate neurological data from surface level scans, we can customize a care plan that suits the specific needs of each child.
